We are licensed psychologists in the states of New York and Maryland, and we are listed in the National Register of Health Service Psychologists. We have hospital privileges at Canton-Potsdam Hospital in Potsdam, New York.
Our practice opened in January, 1985, in Bel Air, Maryland. Dr. Jim Cerio began seeing individuals, couples, and families for counseling. He also did psychological evaluations for the Division of Rehabilitation Services and Maryland Rehabilitation Center. He was on the faculty at Harford Community College, where he worked in the Counseling Center and taught psychology classes.
In January, 1987, Dr. Nan Greene Cerio joined the practice. She added group counseling to the practice in those early years. Counseling for individuals, couples, and families, psychological evaluations for the Division of Rehabilitation Services, and psychological evaluations for Maryland Rehabilitation Center were other services she provided. At that time, she was on the staff of the Counseling Center at Towson University.
In late 2012, we closed our Bel Air office and opened our new office in Canton, New York. We affiliated with Canton-Potsdam Hospital and the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center, and we renewed our historic connections with the universities and people of northern New York.
Today, we provide adolescents and adults with individual counseling, couples counseling, and family counseling. Many of the people with whom we work are helped with anxiety, depressed mood, marital problems, stress problems, behavioral health problems, learning problems, and career problems.

In 2015, we are celebrating our 31st year of providing psychological services. Our Main Street office in the SPARX Building in Canton is easily accessible from all of the communities and colleges in St. Lawrence County. As health service psychologists, we attempt to provide comprehensive psychological services. We try to work closely with local physicians, too. We look forward to the opportunity of providing these services to you and your family.
